Dragonflowers

Over the years, I've collected some colors I rarely use, namely purple. I challenged myself to make a purple quilt. Art Nouveau Floral Iron-On Transfer Patterns had a picture on the front that looked suitable to adapt for applique. For the borders I tried opening up the center design so it could be surrounded with similar leaves and flowers. The black art nouveau scroll was drawn to cover my seam lines between the center and large flower border. I found an interesting idea for the background quilting in a book called Tilings and Patterns. The tiling is taken from a 16th century Persian drawing in the British Museum.
