Butler was the featured instructor of a needleturn applique workshop on August 10, 2013 as part of the International Quilt Invitational Exhibition.
On selecting designs: "This is one of my favorite parts of quilting because the design possibilities are endless. I am always looking for design inspiration in everything, nature, architecture, fabric, furniture designs, tile, picture frames, photos, antique quilts, and more. Design ideas are all around us. We just have to open our eyes to the possibilities. I choose to express in needle and fabric my interpretation of these ideas."
Butler's quilt "Turkish Delight" won First Place in the Bed Quilts, Machine Quilted category in the 2012 American Quilter's Society (AQS) Show and Contest in Des Moines, Iowa. Butler's quilts also won Best of Show in the Springville Museum of Art's 2011 and 2012 quilt competition and exhibition. She also won Best Hand Quilting in the 2013 Annual Quilt Show at the Springville Museum of Art.
