By Heart and Hand
After finishing my Baltimore Album Sampler, I still had a lot of red and green fabric left over. The St. Louis Art Museum had a special exhibit of folk art in 1984, and I fell madly in love with a Whig's Defeat quilt that I saw in the exhibition. Part of it was printed on the exhibit brochure, so that helped me to draw out the pattern. All of the pieces were painstakingly cut out individually and sewn together one by one for By Heart and Hand. (At the time there was no paper piecing that I knew about.) I added diamonds at the top and the bottom so that it would fit better on the bed.
