Birgit Schüller

From Germany. 

"I design, piece and quilt all of my show quilts and garments myself. My piecing designs are based on traditional patchwork but I challenge myself to take these traditional roots to contemporary levels.

While I like bold colors and high contrast in my piecing patterns, my quilting style combines playful and elegant elements. I like to take up a theme from the fabrics used in a top and to continue this theme in my quilting. My goal is to enhance every top without overpowering the piecing."

This years workshop was lead by Schüller, called "Holes as a Design Element."
