In the Gut
"In the Gut" is inspired by a lovely black-andwhite photograph taken by George Naas in the early 1950s of the waterway between an outcropping of rocks and the mainland in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia. Locally it is referred to as "the gut." Swim thinks the title explains how the community feels about the decline of the fishing that sustained livelihoods since the arrival of settlers on these shores.
