Through the Gazebo Window
This fabric landscape presents a literal, three dimensional foreground fading into a more abstract background. It is a composite of Fallert-Gentry's favorite springtime images. Initially, she cut a two-inch strip of almost every fabric she owned. More than 300 different fabrics comprised her "palette" of colors. The design for the lattice and scrollwork in the arch came from woodwork she created for the livingroom of her farmhouse, and the idea for the tree branch came from outside her kitchen window. The quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted.
